Cannabis Litigation To Watch In 2021

Law360 (January 3, 2021, 12:02 PM EST) — The coronavirus pandemic might have slowed down the courts in 2020, but as the country emerges from the pandemic’s clutches it seems likely 2021 will bring rulings in several cases the cannabis industry is watching closely.

While judges struggled with Zoom hearings and closed courthouses, the pandemic didn’t prevent the filing of new lawsuits or appeals. The cannabis industry was especially active in 2020, heading to court over licenses and regulatory roadblocks.

But the industry is also facing some existential litigation, as marijuana opponents challenge the validity of ballot measures that legalized pot in three new states.
