The Health Benefits of Kindness

Happy World Kindness Day!

At Pure Hemp Botanicals, our mantra is Compassion in Action. We seek to inspire compassion and more kindness in our community.

Many of us are feeling heavy-hearted with the circumstances we have faced this year. Our hearts are with all who have suffered the loss of family, friends, jobs, and joyous activities that have kept you going.

In honor of World Kindness Day, we hope this message finds you and makes your day brighter!

World kindness day has inspired our team to share with you the wonderful benefits acts of kindness can have on your health and wellbeing! We hope this message inspires you to share more acts of kindness big and small.

Kindness is always a win – win!

By practicing acts of kindness we are building better selves and better communities. In fact, kindness is contagious and works like a domino effect. It starts with the giver. When you give kindness you are giving to yourself and others!

Acts of Kindness will improve your mood and the mood of everyone who witnessed the act, which may inspire them to be more likely to pay it forward. That one act can make someone’s day a little bit brighter, improve your sense of wellbeing, and multiply to a dozen more people.

Did you know there are real health benefits to being kind?!

Yes, it is true. It actually pays to be kind!

People who practice kindness daily produce 23% less cortisol, the stress hormone.

An attitude of kindness actually lowers your stress and contributes to a longer, healthier life. The more kind thoughts and actions you have and share will improve your quality of life and extend to the lives of those around you!

Have you ever felt that warm sense of wellbeing after doing something nice for someone else? That feeling you experience is not just in your head, it is actually a chemical reaction in your brain!

Acts of kindness can release dopamine, stimulate the production of serotonin in your brain, and boost oxytocin. These feel-good chemicals heal wounds, calm you down, and make you feel happy!

Acts of kindness have been scientifically proven to contribute to improved mood and wellbeing. The practice is actually very effective and doctors even suggest it to people suffering from depression.

“We all seek a path to happiness,” as Dr. Waguih William IsHak, a professor of psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai says, “Practicing kindness toward others is one we know works.”

The trick to experiencing all the health benefits that come with the practice of kindness is to put those acts of kindness on repeat. It is kind of like weight training, science has proven that you can build your “compassion muscle” which helps you respond to others’ pain and suffering with a more compassionate heart and desire to help.

So the next time you are feeling down or want to contribute to a better world try practicing kindness towards yourself and others!

Did you know World Kindness Day is an International Holiday?

Here is a little bit of history on how World Kindness Day became internationally recognized as a real holiday. World Kindness Day is celebrated annually on November 13th devoted to the positive potential of acts of kindness on a small to large scale to bring people of every kind together for common good.

World Kindness Day began as a movement in 1998 and formed into an international holiday as institutions from various countries pledged to join together to build a kinder and more compassionate world.

This holiday is not affiliated with any religion or political movement, and over 28 nations participate in this holiday. Some countries that celebrate World Kindness Day are Australia, Thailand, United States, United Kingdom, India, Italy, Canada, and more.
